DeVry College of New York in Manhattan seeks to welcome new Part Time Visiting Professors to our rapidly expanding degree programs to instruct graduate courses in Finance.  We are interested in developing long-term relationships with superior faculty who have high professional standards, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and a commitment to providing the finest practitioner-focused education. 

 

The typical course of instruction may include:

 

Managerial Finance (FIN515)

Managerial Finance teaches students financial concepts and tools needed for effective business planning. Topics, discussed from a practitioner viewpoint, include formation of interest rates, income taxes, working capital management, cost of capital, financial forecasting, external sources of capital, capital structure, company valuation and bankruptcy.

 

Securities Analysis (FIN560)

Securities Analysis develops analytical skills for personal or business investment activities. Security selection based on technical and fundamental analyses is stressed. Techniques for analyzing risk and return are covered for specific investment opportunities. Modern and traditional portfolio management techniques are discussed.

 

Management of Financial Institutions (FIN564)

This course focuses on managing commercial banks and other financial institutions, and on the interaction of participants in money and capital markets. Management of lending is a major topic, and funds acquisition, capital management, portfolio management and issues relating to risk are discussed.

 

International Finance (FIN565)

International Finance examines, in detail, international financial flows and balance of payment considerations. Corporate exposure to international currency fluctuations (including foreign exchange rates and markets), and methods of hedging risks in international transactions, are addressed.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Become part of a dynamic team of educational professionals, teaching undergraduate students in a variety of degree programs with a blended-learning format (campus/online)
  • Implement and embrace our philosophy, curriculum and course objectives by engaging students
  • Establish an environment conducive to student engagement by effectively planning and preparing for classes, responding quickly to student requests for assistance and ensuring that students enjoy a powerful learning experience
  • Identify opportunities to enhance student engagement through collaboration with colleagues who provide academic and professional guidance 
  • Promote student success by demonstrating a flexible style and exhibit a passion for teaching by devoting time and energy to develop scholarly excellence
  • Engage with a diverse student body comprised of a variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, ethnicities and academic preparation using a variety of platforms and technology
  • Foster a positive learning environment by keeping accurate records, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic and attendance policies

Qualifications

You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you meet the following:

  • A PhD in Finance or closely related field (typically a DBA) with 18+ earned graduate credit hours directly in FINANCE courses is required
  • Prior higher education teaching experience is pred
  • Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills
  • Faculty must also have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment
  • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups
