    DeVry University in Phoenix, AZ seeks to welcome new Part Time Visiting Professors to our rapidly expanding degree programs to instruct undergraduate courses in Networks and Information Systems Security. We are interested in developing long-term relationships with superior faculty who have high professional standards, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and a commitment to providing the finest practitioner-focused education.


    The typical course of instruction may include:

    Network Operating Systems – UNIX, with Lab (NETW240)
    This course explores basic operation and management of local and wide area networks using UNIX or similar network operating systems (NOSs). Topics include server and workstation software installation, physical network configuration, network security, policy, performance monitoring and troubleshooting techniques. NOS features, ease of management, utilities, upgrades, and interoperability with other NOSs and client types are analyzed.


    Principles of Information Systems Security (SEC280)
    This course provides a broad overview of information systems security in organizations. Topics include security concepts and mechanisms; mandatory and discretionary controls; basic cryptography and its applications; intrusion detection and prevention; information systems assurance; and anonymity and privacy. Various types of controls used in information systems, as well as security issues surrounding the computer and computer-generated data, are also addressed.

    Ethical Hacking (SEC311)
    This course provides knowledge and skills related to activities behind hacking attacks and countermeasures. Coursework helps students build defense mechanisms to protect applications, systems and networks from hackers. Security loopholes, as well as common attack tools used by black hat hackers, are examined.

    Advanced Network Security with Lab (SEC450)
    Students in this course develop more advanced skills in identifying network security vulnerabilities, including wireless vulnerabilities; conducting risk assessments; preventing, detecting and responding to intrusions; and providing for business continuity and disaster recovery. Topics include firewall architecture, authentication, intrusion-prevention strategies, web security, cryptography and security gates.


    In this role, you will:

    • Become part of a dynamic team of educational professionals, teaching undergraduate students in a variety of degree programs with a blended-learning format (campus/online)
    • Implement and embrace our philosophy, curriculum and course objectives by engaging students
    • Establish an environment conducive to student engagement by effectively planning and preparing for classes, responding quickly to student requests for assistance and ensuring that students enjoy a powerful learning experience
    • Identify opportunities to enhance student engagement through collaboration with colleagues who provide academic and professional guidance
    • Promote student success by demonstrating a flexible style and exhibit a passion for teaching by devoting time and energy to develop scholarly excellence
    • Engage with a diverse student body comprised of a variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, ethnicities and academic preparation using a variety of platforms and technology
    • Foster a positive learning environment by keeping accurate records, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic and attendance policies


    You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you meet the following criteria:

    • A Master's degree with 18+ earned graduate credit hours in directly relevant coursework, including CISCO certification; terminal strongly pred
    • Prior higher education teaching experience is pred
    • Solid subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills
    • Excellent motivational and instructional skills to be effective in a non-traditional environment
    • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups
