Vice-President of Instructional Services

 

The Vice-President of Instructional Services, acting under the direction of the president, is the chief academic and instructional officer of the College and provides leadership for the overall operation of the academic and instructional units of the College. The Vice-President of Instructional Services is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and effectiveness of instructional programs. The position also provides supervision and over site to many day to day functions of the Century City Center location. The Vice-President of Instructional Services also provides leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, and oversight for day to day functions of all Vernon College locations that will assist all components of the college. The Vice-President of Instructional Services is viewed as a major participant, along with Dean of Student Services, the Dean of Administrative Services, and the Dean of Admissions/Financial Aid/Registrar in the decision-making and communication processes of the college. The Vice-President of Instructional Services is a key collaborator in the College’s strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and accreditation efforts. The Vice-President of Instructional Services reports to the president of the College, who evaluates the Vice-President of Instructional Services annually.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution with preference for a major in community college or higher education administration preferred; Master’s degree in related field with doctoral studies and commitment to complete studies required.

  • A minimum of five years of administrative experience with evidence of progressive responsibility within a community college setting.

  • Known for commitment to academic integrity.

  • Classroom teaching experience at the college level.

  • Experience that demonstrates knowledge of business/industry workforce development.

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with program planning, program evaluation, and the use of instructional technology.

  • Experience or background in curriculum revision and program development.

  • Experience that demonstrates knowledge and ability to provide visionary instructional leadership in a community college committed to learning as an institutional responsibility and to student and colleague growth as a daily mission.

Requirements

Earned doctoral degree with preference in community college or higher education leadership preferred. Master's degree in a related field with current enrollment in doctoral studies and a commitment to complete studies required.
