Harford Community College has served as an anchor institution in Harford County since its inception in 1957. We are a mid-sized, comprehensive college committed to serving our community through high caliber educational offerings and cultural events.  

In 2018, HCC became an Achieving the Dream institution, joining a network of higher education institutions and partners to enhance community college student opportunity, access, and success.  We're continuously working to enhance our student experience using evidence-based improvement and building a strong data infrastructure as we prepare a 2019 strategic plan that will propel Harford Community College into the future.

Our beautiful, 352-acre campus is conveniently located near Baltimore, MD; Philadelphia, PA; Washington, DC; and Wilmington, DE. We offer more than 70 affordable degree and certificate programs to nearly 2,000 full-time and 7,500 part-time students, as well as a wide variety of noncredit continuing education courses to nearly 11,000 students per year.

We are seeking a strategic, unifying leader to serve as our next Vice President for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will be a dedicated and accomplished academic leader who encourages shared governance and can build consensus among faculty, staff, and administrators. Most importantly, the successful candidate will share Harford Community College’s commitment to data-informed practices that prioritize student success and promote the values of inclusion, civility, and principled leadership.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs will serve as the College’s Chief Academic Officer. He or she will report directly to the College President and serve as a member of our six-person Executive Leadership Team.

 

Requirements

The next Vice President for Academic Affairs at Harford Community College must hold a doctorate degree and have previous experience as a senior academic officer for an institution of higher education.

Other requirements include seven or more years of higher education experience; a minimum of five years (may be non-consecutive) of full-time teaching experience; three to five consecutive year as a successful chief academic officer; a working knowledge of higher education, learning, accreditation requirements, and organizational models; and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
