Position Summary



As part of the Joint Clinical Genomics Initiative within Weill Cornell Medicine, the technical product manager will play a pivotal role to establish, implement, update, and maintain a clinical NGS LIMS system in compliance with New York State Department of Health requirements and CAP/CLIA requirements\. The position is part of a larger team that includes different IT groups and technical applications that will provide services to the Clinical Genomics Laboratory\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Manages implementation and provides training to the Clinical Genomic Lab of WCM\-NYP, related to the Laboratory Information Management System \(LIMS\) and other laboratory applications such as Copath, EPIC, tracker, dashboard and scanner\.

+ Serves as the product manager between different groups \(Laboratory staff, laboratory vendors, ITS deparment and Computational Biology personnel\)\.

+ Can provide guidance and strategy to senior leadership regarding LIS best practices for future enhancements and development\.

+ Works with the LIMS Specialist to gather end user materials \(SOPs\) related to LIMS system, required for compliance to CAP/CLIA/New York State Department of Health\.

+ Leads user acceptance testing and defines acceptance criteria for the Lab\.

+ Delivers training and implementation of all or part of the LIMS system\.

+ Responsible for developing implementation plans, reporting progress and elevating issues to leadership for assistance\.

+ Provides expert technical knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System \(LIS\) and has the ability to troubleshoot issues or problems\.

+ Works alongside LIMS specialist to oversee implementation reports, issues management and resolution process\.

+ Leads testing and other validation steps to confirm new features as part of site adoption process\.

+ Coordinates the testing and validation of the system and sub\-systems prior to delivery to the laboratory in support of final validation activities\.

+ Interacts with local lab management and project leaders to present plans and report progress\.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree



Experience



Bachelors in Computer Science/ Processing Engineering or equivalent\. Masters Degree is highly desired\.



A minimum of 5 years related experience with emphasis in systems requirements and development in a LIS environment\.



Experience with developing comprehensive requirements specifications for complex systems/applications with a track record of successfully leading analysis efforts for large and complex projects to solve significant technology\-related problems\.



Familiar with lab systems, integration techniques, and web services with understanding and exposure specifically to LIS concepts, phases and deliverables\.



Firm grasp of system/application architecture and concepts\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills\.

+ Strong analytical and problem solving skills\.

+ Ability to understand customer needs and manage expectations

+ Ability to effectively work independently and collaboratively across groups within a growing organization\.

+ Experience with common CAP/CLIA New York State laboratory terminology, processes and procedures or familiarity with other regulatory/QA guidelines\.

+ Strong technical acumen and familiarity with current NGS technologies and system architectures
