Position Summary

The Support Engineer position is a member of the Operations group within the Information Technology Services \(ITS\) department of Weill Cornell Medical\. The main focus of the position is to provide Windows systems administration and support\. This position also supports other technologies within the group\. Additional technologies may include VMWare, Linux, UNIX, SAN/NAS, etc\. This is a highly challenging and progressive team environment with an opportunity to work alongside infrastructure engineers and architects\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Audits and monitors the health and availability of systems\.

+ Develops automation tools and processeses to help scale operations\.

+ Mentors junior systems administrators\.

+ Participates in capacity and scalability planning\.

+ Partners with the engineering, infrastructure, security and project management teams to help implement new systems and improve existing ones\.

+ Provides systems and services expertise and drive operational best practices\.

+ Researches, develops, and implements new technologies and practices\.

+ Resolves tier 2 and 3 incidents and requests\.

+ Responsible for Disaster Recovery testing and restoration of critical services during DR events\.

+ Works with technical writers to develop internal SOPs and Service handbooks for key systems and services\. Leverages appropriate technical tools with direction to perform day\-to\-day administration tasks, root\-cause analysis and service restoration\.



At least 5 years relevant work experience\.

Requires on\-call availability on team rotation outside of normal business hours\.
