Position Summary



Creates and maintains strategy, governance, principles and direction of Weill Cornell's storage, file sharing, and SAN, including technology related to hypervisor and cloud based infrastructure\. The position provides subject matter expertise on storage technologies to include 3PAR, Pure, EMC Isilon and Brocade Fiber Storage Area Network \(SAN\), among others\.



and is responsible for deployment and configuration of various block storage and file sharing technologies\.



This position also contributes to efforts to ensure security, compliance, performance, capacity, monitoring, service level agreements, operating level agreements and ensures operational standards are met for the core server, storage and virtual infrastructure; supports Network Attached Storage \(NAS\), SAN, block storage, server hardware, virtual and cloud\-enabling infrastructures such as AWS and Azure and plays a strategic role within ITS, focusing on Storage services improvement\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Adheres to guidelines for storage and virtual systems sizing and capacity planning\. Creates reports to ensure storage capacity is running at optimal levels\.

+ Assists in the development, documenting, communicating and carrying out of procedures designed to facilitate recovery from storage or related platform failure\.

+ Collaborates closely with other ITS Groups, especially ITS Operations, Network, and Security Groups\. Works in close partnership with User Support to ensure that integrated customer service is delivered to users\.

+ Contributes to the management of storage and virtualization services budget including ITS purchases\. Adheres to developed budget management and review procedure and attends to yearly budget development and purchasing process\.

+ Develops and implements testing strategies and document results\.

+ Develops automation, tools and procedures that improves operation efficiency and consistency based on requirements provided by team lead\. Automates standard operating procedures and integrates into Weill Cornell systems\.

+ Follows general ITS change control policies\. Works to ensure that detailed change control procedures for Storage systems are submitted in a timely manner\.

+ Keeps abreast of developments in the field and recommends new technologies and services\. Develops deep understanding of WCMC Storage, virtual and Cloud platforms\.

+ Participates in activities within the Storage and Converged Systems group using standardized documented policies and procedures, adhering to departmental principles\. Meets deadlines according to plans developed in collaboration with users and clients\.

+ Responsible for maintaining security for all related services in close collaboration with the ITS Security Group\. Works with ITS Security Engineers to document and remediate security problems when necessary\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree in related field



Experience



5 or more years experience in a Senior IT Engineering capacity directly supporting NAS, SAN and Storage solutions infrastructure\.



Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Unix, Database, Enterprise backups, Active Directory, VDI, DNS and DHCP as it relates to their server and storage needs\.



In\-depth understanding of HPE 3PAR, Pure, Brocade Fiber SAN, and EMC Isilon \(NAS\) technology\.



Understands VMware vSphere and Cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure\.



Ability to develop automation of infrastructure as a service using orchestration tools\.



Strong background in developing trust and confidence in relationships with Clients and cross\-functional teams and experience coordinating and fulfilling requests for internal/external changes\.



Demonstrated experience meeting and reporting on goals, metrics and objectives, and adhering to IT operations strategies and practices\.



Demonstrated ability to understand project business requirements and develop systems along those lines\.



Demonstrated expertise in information systems, business operations, requirements analysis, and integration/design of client solutions\.



Ability to create and modify scripts used to automate various functions\.

+ Ability to participate with management in decision support mode through the development and delivery of appropriate management information\.

+ Self\-starter, with a broad technical background, who possesses both critical\-thinking and analytical skills\.
