Position Summary

Implements and manages a comprehensive stewardship program that recognizes donors and illustrates the impact of their giving\. This role develops an overall strategic vision to include planning, analyzing, evaluating, and growing the program, and oversees all donor stewardship matters in the Office of External Affairs\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Designs, coordinates and implements a comprehensive stewardship program, which appropriately and consistently promotes interaction with and recognition of donors at all levels\.

+ Plans and oversees the implementation of individualized donor engagement and stewardship opportunities\. Helps develop and implement customized strategies to acknowledge and steward principal gifts donors, Board members, and VIPs\.

+ Creates customized plans, stewardship communications, and recognition events for key donor constituencies\.

+ Develops new programs to improve donor retention rates by enhancing the donors experience and synchronizing efforts with the solicitation schedules of all gift officers and their programs\.

+ Leads strategy meetings that focus on enhancing stewardship deliverables and the ways WCM interacts with students, donors and alumni\.

+ Ensures that donor stewardship activities are coordinated, timely, and accurately; ultimately advancing the goals of major gift fundraisers and the capital campaign\.

+ Manages the development of best practices and donor data maintenance and reporting processes, specific to donor relations and stewardship\.

+ Collaborates and coordinates with Special Events team to plan and implement stewardship events; works to develop overarching event strategy, invitations, guest lists, briefings, materials and awards\.

+ Designs, drafts and edits materials, including stewardship publications, endowment performance updates, budgets and financial reports, digital communications, special acknowledgements, and other communications that advance donor relations and retention \.

+ Oversees all activity related to WCM endowment reporting, analysis, and stewardship, including annual fiscal reports\.

+ Serves as liaison to WCM Financial Aid and Academic Affairs Offices; reviews candidates for endowed positions to ensure compliance with donor stipulations; drafts Board resolutions related to endowed positions\.

+ Trains Development colleagues on endowment vehicles and processes and other stewardship programs\.


+ Bachelor's Degree


Master's degree preferred\.

Minimum of 5 years of related experience; at least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred\.

Prior experience engaging in or managing stewardship/donor relations activities\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ A high level of energy and self\-confidence and a positive "can\-do" attitude, and the ability to perform at peak in a fast\-paced, high expectation environment are essential\.

+ Must possess superb writing and communication skills\.

+ Must be a self\-starter with a sense of urgency, and a clear sense of priorities\.

+ Comfort in working with all levels of donors, staff, administration, doctors, and VIPs\.

+ Ability to synthesize diverse or seemingly unrelated findings needs into strategy plans\.

+ Fluency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and fundraising databases\.
