Position Summary

Reporting to Chief Research Compliance Officer, this position manages and oversees the day\-to\-day conflict of interest process and the export controls process\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Ensures institutional compliance with applicable regulations and policies\.

+ Serves as resource for questions concerning the interpretation of policies and their application to individual circumstances\.

+ Coordinates the institutions annual and study\-specific Conflicts of Interest and Conflicts of Commitment disclosure processes\.

+ Oversees the logistics and collection of documentation required in preparation for Conflicts Advisory Panel meetings\.

+ Presents complex and/or high\-profile conflicts of interest related disclosures to the Conflicts Advisory Panel for their deliberation and review\.

+ Monitors and reports compliance rates to the Conflicts Advisory Panel leadership\.

+ Drafts management plans and applies revisions to existing management plans based on Conflicts Advisory Panel feedback\. Monitors the implementation and adherence to management plans\.

+ Reports conflicts to the federal government agencies and other extramural sponsors\.

+ Provides support for investigations of alleged violations of institutional policies\.

+ Manages public relations for the department and its faculty members\. This includes interviews, print media, press releases, social media activity, promotional videos and website maintenance\. Ensures legal compliance of appropriate and accurate disclosures\.

+ Participates in the development and implementation of institutional procedures and training to support compliance with export regulations and institutional policies\.

+ Supports and provides day\-to\-day assistance regarding export control issues, including performing Denied Party Screening as required\.

+ Participates in maintaining export record retention in accordance with the Foreign Trade Regulations and WCM policy\.

+ Prepares reports and metrics associated with export transactions and activities\.

+ Provides regulatory interpretation and guidance concerning requirements and obligations of exporting under ITAR, Export Administration Regulations \(EAR\), Office of Foreign Assets Control \(OFAC\), and other US and International export laws and requirements\.

+ Assists in the continuing assessment of the efficacy and efficiency of Export Control policies and procedures\. Recommends and participates in the implementation of updates in accordance with regulatory changes and university and community best practices\.


+ Bachelor's Degree


Approximately 3\-5 years of relevant work experience in healthcare or research compliance or operations with regulatory experience in a research\-intensive university or hospital setting \(preferably with experience addressing financial conflict\)\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Clear demonstrations of technical, analytical, organizational, problem solving, and communication skills\.

+ Ability to effectively communicate with faculty and staff regarding compliance issues\.
