Position Summary

Assists faculty members and investigators with the submission and maintenance of Institutional Review Board research protocols for grant\- and internally\-funded studies\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Responsible for the preparation of research protocol submissions to the Clinical Study Evaluation Committee \(CSEC\) and IRB; prepares annual continuing reviews and amendments for protocols; communicates as needed with Office of Research Integrity staff\.

+ Ensures maintenance of up\-to\-date regulatory records and compliance with industry deadlines\.

+ Reports all adverse events to the IRB and/or other agencies, as required\.

+ Participates in oneonone strategic planning and problemsolving \(Including study design, survey development, recruitment methods, multisite coordination\) with investigators, including faculty and fellows

+ Assists with grant application process as needed

+ Provides training and support as needed for staff who maintain IRB protocols

+ As needed, recruits, facilitates onboarding, and supervises national and international volunteers and interns\. Plans, schedules, and develops curriculum, ensuring equipment, materials, and resources are available to interns and volunteers\.

+ For select projects: Oversees the recruitment & enrollment of study participants; ensures proper informed consent procedures & project tracking methods; conducts study interviews; maintains confidentiality & safeguards study materials appropriately\.

+ Conducts literature reviews as needed

+ Assists in analysis of research data

+ Assists with manuscript preparation and editing\.


+ Bachelor's Degree


Approximately 2 years of prior experience in a health\-related clinical or research setting\.

Experience with conducting and carrying out protocols and research coordination\.

Familiarity with IRB interaction, regulatory policies, and database input

Research experience in an academic health center with exposure to a team research environment at all levels \(senior investigators, nurses, research coordinators, lab technicians\)\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact with multiple constituencies and exercise "people skills"\.

+ Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications\.

+ Demonstrated ability to coordinate a large data set with accuracy and provide timely dissemination of information arising from it\.

+ Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail\.

+ Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills\.

+ Ability to multi\-task and self\-prioritize work\.

+ Demonstrated ability to remain focused despite frequent interruptions\.

+ Ability to treat confidential information with utmost discretion\.

+ Demonstrates ability to exercise standards of professionalism, including appearance, presentation and demeanor\.

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner with all departmental faculty and staff, as well as other institutional representatives\.
