Position Summary

Coordinates and administers grants and contracts from proposal review and submission, through award\. This position's porfolio consists of highly complex grant mechanisms \(PPG, U, T, Equipment\)\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Maintains up\-to\-date knowledge and expertise in federal state private agencies regulations and policies, and stays abreast of new laws and OMB circulars which affect sponsored program activities\.

+ Reviews terms and conditions of new contractual agreements and evaluates changes to pre\-existing agreements\. Reviews and negotiates grant and contract applications and awards, sub awards, and research\-related consulting agreements\.

+ Independently researches answers to complex grant submission questions; escalates as needed\.

+ Prepares and presents training programs, including power point presentations, for faculty and department administrators\.

+ Serves as the liaison between sponsors and WCM for research processing operations including pre\-award and post\-award\.

+ Coordinates and reviews Just\-in\-Time \(JIT\) sponsor responses\.

+ Provides the leadership for facilitating and expediting the research grant and contract application process\. Provides guidance to staff on all aspects of the grant process\.

+ Participates in the development and implementation of research and sponsored program policies and regulations\.

+ Provides assistance to new faculty to find new funding opportunities with new and diverse sponsors\.

+ Ensures compliance with Institutional Review Board \(IRB\), IACUC, FDA, and granting agencies\. Provides assistance to faculty in the preparation and processing of applications including program project grants\.

+ Reviews final award documents prior to the establishment of accounts\. Post award responsibilities include review and or drafting modifications to changes in grant contract documents\.

+ Provides sound judgement and ability to make decisions in the managers absence

+ Performs other related duties as assigned\.


+ Bachelor's Degree in related field


Degree pursuing candidates may be considered based on years of experience\.

Approximately 2 years of experience in higher education\.

Approximately 2\+ years in Contracts Negotiation

Approximately 2\+ years in Research Administration

Higher/Advanced Educational studies \(Degree pursuing or Continuing Education\) is highly desired\.

Healthcare knowledge\-clinical setting, administration or operations is highly desired\.

Research Integrity \(Conflicts, IRB, DSMB, IBC, IACUC, etc\.\) policy knowledge is preferred\.

Institutional research experience a plus\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Ability to work independently, under minimal supervision\.

+ Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff\.

+ Self\-starter with demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as with a team\.

+ Ability to handle multiple simultaneous demands and prioritize work\.

+ Effective organizational and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and function effectively in a high volume work environment\.

+ Excellent communication skills \(both verbal and written\)\.

+ Excellent English language skills\.

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high\-pressure, complex environment\.

+ Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications\.

+ Ability to review contract details and apply appropriate language\.
