Position Summary



Under guidance, directs and manages all financial activities within the department\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Monitors resource allocations and ensures that funds are used accordance with external sponsors' policies\. Resolves any deficits and/or inappropriate expenses\.

+ Directs and implements the department's budget to ensure compliance with institutional goals and objectives\. Reviews and analyzes revenue and expense categories in budget submission for reasonableness and complete disclosure\.

+ Reconciles institutional allocations\.

+ Resolves funding issues\.

+ Cooperates with audit requirements and implements audit recommendations\.

+ Prepares faculty incentive plans, determines productivity and enforces guidelines\.

+ Maintains current knowledge of laws, regulations and payer requirements that impact departmental policy and procedures related to billing\.

+ Oversees and/or approves procurement and disbursement/reimbursement activities\. Ensures proper internal controls are in place around financial transactions\. Resolves any financial issues as needed\.

+ Dispenses supplement payment based on department's compensation plan\.

+ Reviews and analyzes accounting and management reports to monitor variances from approved budget\. Escalates review of unfavorable variances and recommends solutions\. Implements and follows up on corrective action plans\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree in related field



Experience



Approximately 8 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, preferably in an academic healthcare or research setting



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Demonstrated experience with budget and strategic financial planning\.

+ Demonstrated experience with online financial management systems, database management and spread sheet applications\.
