Position Summary

Responsible for carrying out all senior functions related to Remittance and Credit Resolution\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Handles Bulk electronic Remittance payment files for assigned groups/practices\.

+ Resolves Edit and Credit Work Queues associated with Remittance payment files\.

+ Responsible for Reconciliatory duties related to Remittance payment files\.

+ Maintains Remittance audit tracking logs for EFT payment sources\.

+ Reviews accounts receivable for credit and debit posting discrepancies; determines appropriate action required to resolve variance\.

+ Researches posting inquiries and assists in gathering required documentation for resolution\.

+ Reviews registration, demographic and insurance eligibility issues to determine allocation of payment and credits\.

+ Responsible for notating and reporting inconsistent and invalid financial transactions\. Monitors payment patterns and escalates deviations\.

+ Processes Credit Card authorizations received from the Bank Lock Boxes\.

+ Processes incoming charge backs, returned/unpaid items, bank adjustments, domestic and international wire transfers, interinstitutional, Research, Global contracts and specialized agreements\.

+ Assists current and new employees in the use of systems/equipment and departmental policies and procedures\.

+ Maintains established institutional and department policies and procedures, objectives and quality & safety standards\. Respects and adheres to rules and regulations regarding patient confidentiality, HIPAA and handling PHI \(Privileged Health Information\)\.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned\.


+ High School Diploma


College degree is preferred\.

Approximately 3 5 years of medical billing experience\.

Prior experience working with an eMR system

Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology\.

Demonstrated knowledge of third party reimbursement\.

Previous related experience in an office setting\.

+ Demonstrated ability to multi\-task and prioritize in a fast\-paced environment\.

+ Demonstrated ability to remain focus despite frequent interruptions\.

+ Ability to treat confidential information with utmost discretion\.

+ Ability to exercise standards of professionalism, including appearance, presentation and demeanor\.

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner with all departmental faculty and staff, as well as other institutional representatives\.

Position requires mandatory overtime to meet departmental requirements at month end\.
