Job Details

Position Summary

Researches accounts and performs data entry and other related billing activities\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Reviews insurance claim edits and resolves registration, demographic and insurance eligibility issues within the billing system\. Escalates more complex claim issues to supervisor\.

+ Completes, updates and verifies patient demographic and coverage information within the practice management billing system\.

+ Verifies charge information and enters charges into the billing system\. Reviews and confirms basic charge element: patient name, date of service, physician, procedure codes, diagnoses, department and location\.

+ Completes requests for charge corrections when necessary\. Assigns appropriate coverage to each charge\.

+ Performs charge entry audits on a quarterly basis\.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned\.


+ High School Diploma


Approximately 1 year of physician billing, accounts receivable or collection experience\.

Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology\.

Demonstrated knowledge of third party reimbursement\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Demonstrated ability to function independently and exercise independent judgment\.

+ Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact with multiple constituencies and exercise "people skills"\.

+ Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications\.

+ Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail\.

+ Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills\.

+ Demonstrated ability to multi\-task and prioritize in a fast\-paced environment\.

+ Demonstrated ability to remain focused despite frequent interruptions\.

+ Ability to exercise standards of professionalism, including appearance, presentation and demeanor\.

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner with all departmental faculty and staff, as well as other institutional representatives\.
