Position Summary



With minimal supervision, produces recombinant proteins and generates stable cell lines that will be used as reagents for therapeutic antibody discovery\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Performs routine mammalian cell transfection and transduction procedures and maintains mammalian cell cultures\.

+ Generates and validates stable cell lines\.

+ Assists in the expression and purification of proteins using fast\-performance liquid chromatography \(FPLC\) methods\.

+ Helps in quality control of the proteins and cell lines to confirm that the produced reagents have a native, biologically active conformation\.

+ Keeps a detailed and well organized laboratory notebook\.

+ Presents project updates at group meetings\.

+ Stays current with literature and emerging trends in the discipline\.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree



Experience



Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or related field\.



Master's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or related field is highly desired\.



A minimum of 3 years of experience in mammalian cell culture and/or protein purification in an academic laboratory, or in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry\.



Demonstrated track record with publications or patents a plus\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Strong skills in mammalian cell culture handling and expression techniques, including lipid transfection and viral transduction\.

+ Hands\-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, vector cloning and DNA extractions\.

+ Experience with protein purification using KTA chromatography purification systems\.

+ Knowledge of Western blot, ELISA, and reporter assays\.

+ Ability to work independently or with minimum guidance in a dynamic, fast\-paced environment\.

+ Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time\.

+ Critical thinking, prioritization of tasks, strong problem\-solving and troubleshooting, and excellent communication and presentation skills\.

+ Timely delivery of team goals and ability to build productive relationships with colleagues and collaboration partners\.
