Position Summary



Supports antibody discovery and leads optimization efforts across the Biologics portfolio through cloning, expression vector and protein design, sequencing, and optimization of biologic drug properties\. This role works closely with teams across the Biologics group and academic collaborators and presents data to the project teams\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Performs plasmid purifications, polymerase chain reactions and molecular cloning\.

+ Designs primers for PCR, sequencing and mutagenesis\.

+ Generates plasmids for recombinant antibody and antigen production in bacterial and mammalian cell culture systems\.

+ Maintains an inventory of bacterial cultures, plasmids, primers and other reagents\.

+ Records experimental methods, results and conclusions\.

+ Is active in managing day\-to\-day laboratory needs and maintaining SOPs\.

+ Stays current with literature and emerging trends in the discipline\.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree in related field



Experience



BS/MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or related field\.



A minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in molecular biology in an academic



laboratory, or in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry\.



Experience in molecular cloning techniques \(PCR, plasmid preparation, DNA



sequence analysis\), and with handling and manipulating microbial cultures\.



Knowledge of molecular construct design using nucleic acid and protein analysis



software\.



Previous experience with bacterial and mammalian cell culture handling\.



Proficiency with enzyme\-linked immunosorbent assay \(ELISA\) and Western Blot\.



Understanding of antibody structure and function\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Ability to manage work with minimal supervision\.

+ Ability to trouble\-shoot technical issues\.

+ Strong communication and presentation skills\.

+ Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously\.
