Description Position Summary
Working under the close supervision of the Manager of the Genomics Core or more senior Core staff performs standard laboratory procedures and provides routine Core laboratory services.
Job Responsibilities
+ Performs simple bioassays, prepares buffers, solutions, media, and reagents for standard prescribed tests.

+ As needed, performs basic laboratory experiments or routine laboratory procedures.

+ Prepares and maintains detailed records, logs and summary reports of all procedures and results including graphs, scientific calculations, and statistical analysis charting.

+ Trains support staff for back.up responsibilities.

+ May be responsible for the financial activities associated with the procurement for laboratory supplies.

+ Maintains the inventory for lab supplies and submits order requests.

+ Provides cross.coverage during lunch, vacation, and absences.
Education
+ Bachelor’s of Science Degree in related field
Experience
Previous research or laboratory experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude regarding computers and electronic equipment.

+ Previously demonstrated basic proficiency in written and spoken English.

+ Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines and handle confidential information.

+ Intermediate computer experience required for data entry and troubleshooting

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Work is approximately 30% is computer based, 70% lab based.
Must be able to lift 20 lbs unaided
