Description **Position Summary**

The candidate will provide study design and analysis support to the Program/Center. Our Program houses the Science and Infrastructure Center for Medical Device Epidemiology Network funded by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is a unique center in the country that focuses on surgery and medical device evaluation in post-market settings. Under direct supervision of faculty within the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and at New York Presbyterian Hospital, the candidate will perform various database research activities as listed below.

**Position Activities**

Provide statistical expertise in analyzing data for the Patient-Centered Comparative Effectiveness Program.

Review proposed studies for soundness of study design and statistical methodology (with minimal supervision).

Contribute written sections for IRB applications, grant applications, and manuscripts for assigned projects

Write SAS programs to generate statistical analyses

Maintain SAS program library and documentation for Core

Perform intermediate to expert level statistical queries, analyses, and evaluation

Interact with other members of the Core and, when necessary, hospital scientists and clinicians involved in the assigned research projects.

Stay informed of statistical programming techniques as applied to surgical research issues by reading journals and/or attending courses/programming meetings.

Peer review and suggest changes or improvements to existing SAS code, analytical and study methods, and reports for validity and limitations, as performed by other members of the Core.

Additional duties as assigned

Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Minimum Requirements**

The successful candidate should possess a terminal degree, Master’s degree or higher in biostatistics or epidemiology or related fields.

MUST possess good organization & time management skills, and the ability to manage several concurrent tasks.

**Highly Desired Requirements**

Programing experience is a plus

Work experience and/or research experience in large databases is very desirable

Prior experience in Healthcare Research

**Skill and Abilities**

Complete proficiency in Microsoft Office and a statistical software package is mandatory. SAS is the preferred statistical package but expertise in R or Stata are also encouraged.

Excellent oral and written communications skills are paramount
