Position Summary



Supports the Program Director and Associate Dean with administrative leadership of the Burroughs Wellcome Weill Cornell Physician\-Scientist Training Program\. Provides administrative and logistical support for this new institutional program in training MD\-only trainees for full time careers in laboratory investigation based in the Office of Faculty Development at 75% effort\. This role also shares general administrative responsibilities for supporting the Associate Dean of Faculty Development at 25% effort\. He/she coordinates and oversees recruitment and selection of trainees and work with faculty mentors to develop and execute trainees individual development plans \(IDPs\)\. He/she also tracks trainee progress and helps write and submit annual progress and financial reports to the Burroughs Wellcome Fund\. He/she will receive practical skills, knowledge, and experience in thinking strategically about physician\-scientist training while simultaneously receiving training in project management\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Provides confidential correspondence for the Program Director and Associate Dean; draws up documents relevant to programmatic activities, progress reports & student/trainee evaluations\.

+ In consultation with the Associate Dean, develops and directs new policies and procedures for physician\-scientist training initiatives\.

+ Interfaces with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Mentoring Academy to coordinate joint activities\.

+ Travels as needed nationally and internationally for program related activities\.

+ Assists in preparation of annual program progress reports, financial reports and trainee progress reports\. Routes administrative paperwork for relevant signatures and approvals\.

+ Adopts, formulates, and communicates necessary changes in operational policies dealing with grant administration\.

+ Serves as primary contact & resource for trainees and faculty involved in program activities\.

+ Independently manages program website, writing new material and updating program information as appropriate\.

+ Organizes meetings and special events; manages invitee lists, marketing, venue selection, catering and speaker requests\.

+ Performs other related duties as directed\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree



Experience



PhD, EdD or MPH is highly desired\.



Approximately 3\+ years of relevant work experience\.



Experience in working in multicultural environments with a demonstrated interest in physician\-scientist education and enhancing diversity highly desired\.



Research background/experience preferred\.



Grants management/writing preferred\.



Experience in statistics is preferred\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications\.

+ Must be very articulate and possess a professional demeanor and appearance\.

+ Detail oriented and superb organizational skills\.

+ Must be able to prepare routine correspondence and memos independently with appropriate consideration for security and confidentiality of sensitive documents and matters related to personnel, finances, etc\.
