Position Summary

Leads the planning, organizing and implementation of multiple projects while maintaining complete control on project schedule, budget and risk issues\. Provides ITS management with regular project updates, maintains trusting relationships, identifies project risks early and assists by providing prudent and timely recommendations for risk avoidance\. In addition, the PMO Associate I assists senior members of the PMO with major and important projects that have significant organizational impact or are linked to major goals defined in the organizational strategy\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Participates in the evaluation, selection, maintenance and continuous enhancements of project management methodology, tools and templates, and contributes to the overall improvement of the PMO\.

+ Assists with the project intake process by evaluating assigned project requests, drafting project charters, identifying required resources and supporting the requestor to ensure that the project is approved by the approving committees\.

+ Defines project scope, charter, goals & deliverables in support of business goals, while working with stakeholders for approval\. Plans, schedules & executes to ensure that projects are completed on time & meet all business & system requirements\.

+ Facilitates requirements gathering by evaluating the needs of a variety of users across multiple teams\. Facilitates and participates in technical meetings, builds of technical specifications and test cases to ensure that they satisfy requirements\.

+ Maintains standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation\.

+ Provides updates on the status, issues, key activities and any changes to the project charter\. Identifies and communicates resource conflicts\. Provides presentations on project updates, project cycle, and expected results\.

+ Uses the project management application to support ongoing project management efforts\. Develops expertise and practical knowledge of the tool to be able to provide support for users requiring assistance in using the application\.


+ Bachelor's Degree


Approximately 2 years of hands\-on IT project management experience\.Proficiency with project management/scheduling software, Microsoft Office Suite\. Understands technologies and technical issues involved with IT projects\.Working knowledge of ITIL desired\.Experience working in a project management office \(PMO\) preferred\.Experience in Higher Education or Healthcare is preferred\.Certified Associate in Project Management \(CAPM\) or equivalent is desired\.Exposure to Scrum and Agile methodologies desired\.Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience desired\.

+ Advocates within the organization for the projects to which one is assigned and the business and strategic goals that they intend to meet\.

+ Ability to manage project scopes and resources\.

+ In all areas, promotes and maintains a favorable work environment for oneself and others to assist in meeting the overall mission of the medical college\.

+ Anticipates, identifies and manages resolutions of critical obstacles\.

+ Ability to work under tight deadlines while providing high\-quality work\.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Position requires working in an office environment where there are some physical discomforts such as dust, dirt, noise and the like are present\. Ability to work off\-hours and weekends for go\-lives, testing and emergencies, as well as light travel between office locations, primarily within NYC is required\.Occasional meetings or clinical staff interactions in typical patient care areas may be required through direct patient exposure is not expected\. Occasional moving of computer requipment or similar objects up to approximaelty 50 lbs may be required to expedite projects\.
