Position Summary

Responsible for the operations, administration and maintenance of the institutions data center\(s\)\. This role is also responsible for providing specific support for network engineering & telecom request/incident resolution\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Monitors and troubleshoots infrastructure, application and data center environments for alerts & errors\.

+ Serves as an escalation point for timely resolution of Level II/III Telecom & Networking requests\.

+ Performs routine production and non\-production day\-to\-day administration and maintenance of WCM data center\(s\) to include power/cooling/capacity planning\.

+ Uses a ticketing system to manage assigned cases\. Logs all activities and case updates\.

+ Provides technical support in the day\-to\-day operations of WCMC, 7/24/365 mission critical Data Center\(s\)\.

+ Ensures that implementations and maintenance is performed according to best practices and operational policies and procedures\.

+ Responsible for ensuring the physical security and access to the institutional data center\(s\)\.

+ Responsible for maintaining the highest standard for racking & cabling of hardware within the WCMC data center\(s\)

+ Works closely with systems engineers, developers and other personnel to quickly troubleshoot, triage and resolve issues\. Maintains uptime\-goals and standards of excellence for WCMC data center environment\(s\)\.

+ Collaborates with internal groups and business units to meet data center support requirements and deliver business value\. Responsible for coordination & management of internal communication during outage/incident events\.

+ Responsible for ensuring data center\(s\) shipping, delivery, inventory, et al operational tasks are managed appropriately on a day\-to\-day basis based on documented WCM Data Center Operational Policies & Procedures\.

+ Creates and maintains technical documentation to sustain data center daily operations and planning\. Identifies data center operational risks and proposes alternative solutions\.

+ Produces regular data center operations & project status reports

+ Responsible for fielding calls after ServiceDesk completes workday


+ Associate's Degree


Minimum Associates degree, Data Center related certification\(s\), or equivalent work experience\.

Approximately 3\+ years of hands on experience as a Network Engineer or similar discipline in a data center operations environment\.

Working Experience in Data Center infrastructure, Network Engineering, Telecom

Technology Experience: TCP/IP, VLANs, Switches, Routers, Backend Phone Systems \(i\.e\. Avaya\), Solarwinds, Nagios, other monitoring tools\.

Data Center Experience: Racking & Structured Cable Management, Power/Cooling & Capacity planning\.

Customer Service Skills: Customer service focused, Ticket\-Handling/Management\.

Direct Knowledge / Experience of Enterprise level Data Center Services highly desired\.

CISCO UCS desired\.

Python or other scripting discipline helpful

ITIL Foundation a plus\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with users at all organizational levels\.

+ Ability to complete individual tasks and deliverable within project timelines

+ Results driven individual who enjoys working in a fast paced and challenging environment

+ Capable of working independently with little supervision or direction

+ Excellent operations, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Position requires working in an office environment where there are some physical discomforts such as dust, dirt and noise; Light travel between office locations, primarily within NYC is required; Occasional meetings or clinical staff interactions in typical patient care areas may be required, though direct patient exposure is not expected; Occasional moving of computer equipment or similar objects up to approximately 25 lbs may be required
