  • Opportunity at a Glance

    This position is responsible for management of all course-level development processes by the instructional design, editorial, and production teams. This includes consideration of production schedules, workflow, and resource management to ensure timely and quality delivery of courses.


    Course Development Process Management

    • Oversees instructional design, editorial, and production resources to create, edit, and maintain course content for all of DeVry Online Services academic partners
    • Collaborates with other leaders and academic partner institutions to manage course development schedules and assignments
    • Assesses resource management of the teams for capacity planning to ensure adequate support for all academic partner institutions
    • Evaluates Instructional Design, Editorial, and Production teams’ processes and technologies for standardization and effectiveness
    • Develops work plans, goals, and objectives that are focused on providing efficient service and support for all customers
    • Monitors feedback on courses and development services and partner with stakeholders to make improvements

    Course Design Improvements

    • Collaborates with academic partners, other leadership, and functional areas to develop best practices and documented standards for course design and for development of instructional media
    • Recommends changes to course development processes, policies, and metrics to facilitate the improvement of services and performance
    • Reviews new and existing courses to provides constructive critiques, proposes improvements, and identifies opportunities for new pedagogical models or techniques


    • Coordinates support of projects that require instructional design, editorial, and production resources
    • Stays current with industry trends and new methodologies to course development practices
    • Supervises, hire, trains, and evaluates course development staff in coordination with other team leaders; ensures seamless execution of departmental policies and procedures
    • Manages and coordinates the professional development of the course development teams and continuous improvement of processes
    • Researches and makes recommendations on educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies and multimedia to support teaching and learning
    • Completes other duties as assigned



    • A Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related degree; Ph.D. desirable
    • A minimum of five years Instructional Design experience in online settings
    • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing and supervising colleagues in the instructional design process, including consultative approaches to solving learning problems
    • Ability to learn and implement new technologies to benefit the teaching and learning experience
    • Strong communication skills
    • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision
    • Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
