This position is a short-term, temporary, Non-Bargaining Unit assignment, not to exceed 160 days. The assignment is on an as needed basis, and may be shortened or extended.

Saddleback College Student Health Services is seeking a Case Manager to work within the Student Health Services Division. This position is grant funded. Reporting directly to the Dean of Wellness, Social Services and Child Development, the Case Manager will join our team of Student Health Services staff that provide medical, mental health, crisis intervention and outreach services and activities for the students of Saddleback College.

 

Examples of duties include, but not limited to, the following:

• Coordinate with physicians, nurses, therapists and other professionals to provide resources for Saddleback College students, connecting them with on campus and community-based services.

• Provide on-going supportive and/or case management functions in accordance with Student Health Services policies and procedures in order to help students to achieve academic success.

• Develop protocols to track and follow up with students for whom referrals have been made.

• Document all student contacts and interventions on a timely basis including face-to-face interviews, collateral and networking contacts, and correspondence.

• Maintain confidential student health records in accordance with Student Health Services policies and procedures, State of California and Federal standards, laws and requirements.

• Assist to organize mental health awareness months for Sexual Assault, Depression, Domestic Violence, and Suicide Prevention/Awareness throughout the school year.

• Identify and maintain up to date Community Referrals for mental health treatment services with low cost, county programs, and support groups.

• Effectively present Student Health Services information in person or on the telephone to students, faculty, administrators or staff.

• Perform a variety of general office duties.

• Implement and maintain filing systems.

• Type or enter data at a speed necessary for successful job performance.

• Assist with working the front office/reception in Student Health Services.

• Exercise good judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving confidential, difficult, and sensitive situations.

• Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge of:

• Method and techniques in working with individuals with mental health disorders.

• Local community resources and service delivery systems (e.g., housing resources, occupational resources, addiction treatment resources, community mental health providers).

• Principles and techniques used in public relations including methods and techniques of proper receptionist and telephone etiquette.

• General office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing spreadsheets and databases.

• Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

• Utilize HIPPA standards in all communication.

 

Ability to:

• Learn and apply the philosophy, objectives and policies of Saddleback College Student Health Services, and to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with Student Health Services staff, other College employees as well as with relevant community organizations.

• Recent clinical experience working with patients and or clients.

• Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Suite software applications.

• Know available resources both on and off campus for mental health, social services, and health resources.

• Ability to document on an electronic medical record and maintain accurate records.

• Work independently with little supervision.

• Meet schedules and deadlines.

• Present and communicate effectively in front of small and large groups of audiences.

• Travel within the service areas of the college.

• Work a variable schedule to accommodate scheduled events.
