Description Position Summary
Under supervision, performs various laboratory and administrative activities in support of technicians and investigators conducting experiments
Job Responsibilities
+ Responsible for sharps and waste disposal.

+ Coordinates room reservations and provides on.site support, including assistance with audiovisual equipment set up and refreshments, as needed.

+ Assists with the preparation of solutions.

+ Receives, sorts and distributes mail; accepts and signs for package deliveries.

+ Observes established safety measures and notifies appropriate staff of any maintenance or safety issues. Documents environmental controls.

+ Responsible for autoclave services, washing and sterilization of lab glassware and equipment.

+ Under close supervision, may assist with experimental procedures, which may include work with animals.

+ May assist with data collection and maintenance.

+ May assist with specimen collection, storage, shipment and transport.

+ Assists with the coordination, set.up and or close.outs of labs where needed.

+ Coordinates lab coat cleaning.

+ Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control.
Prior experience working in a research setting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ If required to draw blood, phlebotomy certification is required prior to performing task.
Licenses and Certifications
+ AALAS Certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician .ALAT. level .or higher.
