Position Summary



Under direction, is responsible for ensuring proper and uninterrupted infrastructure operations for research laboratories\. Coordinates the design, construction, alteration or installation of lab facilities and/or equipment\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Manages research space requests: maintains list of all requests, options, next steps and responsible parties; develops multiple scenario options including downstream impact of re\-assigning spaces and scenarios to address potential issues\.

+ Analyzes organizational space needs, limitations, and cost of leveraging space\. Develops feasibility studies and initial cost/time estimates\. Determines suitability for occupancy\.

+ Drafts records related to space allocation, standards, and improvements\. Reviews design changes, equipment specifications/substitutions, and purchasing procedures\.

+ Working with Academic Departments, Environmental Health and Safety and Capital Planning departments physically reviews all research space to identify underutilized and/or outdated equipment and find solutions to repurpose, store or discard as appropriate\.

+ Working with Department Administrators conducts walk\-throughs to monitor use of space for the campus and assure all space assignments are accurate\. Reviews lab personnel assigned to spaces, as well as funding allocations\.

+ Works closely with lab personnel and the Engineering and Maintenance Department to ensure proper and uninterrupted infrastructure operation of research laboratories\. Investigates and resolves problems arising from construction or renovation\.

+ Develops database of all service contracts maintained by the Institution and individual labs\. Works with Research Operations, Finance, Risk Management and Purchasing to identify opportunities for cost saving, while ensuring prompt and reliable service\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree



Experience



Approximately 4\-6 years of experience in laboratory operations, preferably at an academic institution\.



Possesses expert knowledge of subject matter\.



Advance Excel and Tableau experience highly preferred\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills\.

+ Ability to develop complex MS Excel spreadsheets to track and organize multiple operational activities including the integration of multiple data sources; use of statistical calculations and formulas; and develop operational reports\.

+ Ability to perform work with a high degree of latitude\.

+ Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail\.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team

+ Ability to establish collaborative working relationships and in managing multiple projects and deadlines\.

+ Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications\.
