Position Summary







Under general supervision, the Grants and Contracts Specialist provides a full range of administrative, financial and other support associated with pre\- and post\-award sponsored research activities and services on routine sponsored projects such as federal grants, foundation grants, and industrial contracts







Job Responsibilities







+ Reviews and reconciles accounts, financial transactions, documentation and/or financial reports\. Investigates and corrects discrepancies\. Escalates issues as needed\.



+ Coordinates pre\- and post\-award activities for all sponsored research projects, including training grants\.



+ Generates reports for dissemination to departmental administrators and staff\.



+ Assists in reconciling budget to actual expense activity for all grants and contracts\.



+ Coordinates the administration and submission of research grant and contract applications\.



+ Provides administrative support with grant transactions including the review and approval of purchases/charges and reconciliation of accounts; payment requests; submission of Change of Funding requests; and preparation of expenditure correction requests\.



+ May assist faculty with new funding opportunities\.







Education







+ High School Diploma







Experience







Bachelor's degree is preferred\.







Approximately 3 years of related experience, preferably within the medical research field







Knowledge, Skills and Abilities







+ Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail\.



+ Demonstrated strong communication skills\.
