Description Position Summary
Provides administrative management for basic and translational research programs, the administrative office and educational programs. This position is also responsible for the overall management of research administration needs.
Job Responsibilities
+ Manages & provides support for pre.award research activities: assists with finding funding opportunities and preparing/editing proposals through submission; reviews/approves proposed budgets, staffing & space requirements; ensures deadlines are met.

+ Ensures faculty/staff adhere to institutional, NIH & other agency regulations/guidelines. Coordinates site visits. Assists in the review of legal & other agreements related to basic & translational research, ensuring faculty & institutional needs are met.

+ Oversees post.award administration for basic and translational research grants. Approves and monitors expenses allocated; verifies that expenses are appropriate based upon the approved budget for each grant study.

+ Monitors research staff effort allocations and maintains various institutional systems to provide accurate and uniform reporting.

+ Processes and monitors payments owed. Responsible for ensuring the full use of grant funds and a timely and compliant closeout of all projects.

+ Meets with principal investigators to review their research, preparing portfolio reports presenting an overview of the PI’s financial status. Monitors revenue/expenses against fiscal year budget projections & PIs own spending plans to keep goals on track

+ Provides regular updates on potential funding issues, grant activities within the department, and other ongoing administrative issues.

+ Assists with completion of the annual budget by providing funding plans and salary projections for all research groups. Responsible for monitoring spending on research related discretionary accounts and evaluating planned use.

+ Oversees operational support provided to laboratory groups. Coordinates laboratory moves and new equipment orders. Manages shared services and invoices participating laboratory groups for their expenses.

+ Provides administrative support to supervising faculty regarding HR matters, such as promotions, new hires, performance.related issues, terminations, etc.

+ Responsible for providing administrative support for all research related needs, as well as providing general administrative support to faculty and staff as needed.

+ Performs other job.related duties as required.
+ Bachelor's Degree in related field
Approximately 5 years related administrative experience in an academic medical setting, which includes experience in grants administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Excellent organizational, interpersonal and supervisory skills.

+ Ability to manage multiple large.scale projects and meet deadlines.

+ Excellent computer skills required, including Excel, Word, Power Point and accounting software.
