Description Position Summary
The Office of Research Integrity oversees the animal subject protection program .IACUC., conflict of interest and educational activities related to ethical conduct of research on the Qatar campus. It also works closely with the institutional biosafety committee .IBC.. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research, the Director is responsible for strategic direction, oversight and operational management of the WCM.Q Office of Research Integrity to ensure a high level of responsiveness to the needs of the research community while ensuring that WCM.Q meets its ethical and regulatory obligations as they relate to animal subject protection and conflicts of interest.
Job Responsibilities
+ Displays in.depth knowledge of the regulations governing animal research. Interprets and applies the regulations and institutional policies.

+ Ensures regulatory compliance of the animal subject protection program with Federal, Institutional and Qatari policies, procedures and regulations, overseeing the proper operations of The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee .IACUC..

+ Provides oversight, management and documentation of all activities related to the Animal Research Program WCM.Q,

+ Directly work with the IACUC Chair, IACUC members and Animal Care staff to ensure timely review and approval of new protocols, amendments, annual reviews, and de.novo reviews.

+ Responsible for maintenance of all IACUC documentation in accordance with Qatari, institutional and federal regulations.

+ Manage the alignment of Qatari regulation with the EnCompass electronic system.

+ Attend all IACUC meetings; developing and administer ongoing training of IACUC members regarding changing regulations and other topics of interest

+ Oversee semi.annual program review and presentation of results to Institutional Official .IO.

+ Develop new policies, SOPs and guidance documents, for the IACUC as applicable

+ Ensure all documentations and requirements for AAALAC accreditation are met for the IACUC. Supervise the IACUC staff to ensure the institution complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies that govern animal research at WCM.

+ Oversee conflict of interest disclosure and management, working closely with New York staff to ensure both WCM.Q employees and external collaborators are up to date with conflict of interest requirements

+ Supports the institutional Environmental Health and Safety .EHS. office in overseeing the Occupational Health and Safety Program with regard to Medical Clearances required for animal users and research staff handling blood.borne pathogens

+ Serves as a member on the IBC and helps ensure research studies that may require IBC obtain the correct ethical compliance.

+ Reviews grant applications to assist investigators in completing Regulatory Requirement section of applications.

+ Develop and maintains research education program. Design and conduct training activities for researchers, staff and students about the responsible conduct of research. Supervises training resources and provides on.going end.user and new employee training.

+ Serves as a subject matter expert, providing regulatory and procedural guidance to key stakeholders.

+ Maintain research records necessary for completing accurate Professional Liability Insurance for institution.
Education
+ Bachelor's Degree in related field
Experience
Seven or more years experience in the oversight of research conduct with demonstrated working knowledge of animal subject protection regulations and ethical standards.
Minimum of 3 years managing staff within a multi.cultural environment.
Previous experience creating and delivering training programs and preparing communications for knowledge sharing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Previously demonstrated basic proficiency in written and spoken English.

+ Ability to work independently and to make decisions on projects without additional oversight.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work within a team environment, as well as independently.

+ Proficiency .written and spoken. in Arabic.
