Opportunity at a Glance

As the Director of Infrastructure Technologies you are responsible for leading, organizing and motivating a team of IT professionals in developing and delivering solutions for Infrastructure Technologies related to End-User computing. You have subject matter expertise in the functional areas of network technologies (wireless, remote access, security services), network services (distributed cabling, vendor provided communications, telecommunications), Telephony & Call Center Technologies, Audio\Visual infrastructure, solutions architecture, and collaboration technologies (desktop video, chat, unified communications, call center technology and applications, production and dissemination of live video streaming, and mobile device access) including wireless and presentation.

 

You create processes designed to gather and document organizational needs around infrastructure and ensure the successful delivery of those solutions to the organization. To be successful, you must exercise your leadership and judgement skills to perform business analysis and collaborate with internal customers to develop strategies and solutions for high business value. You are responsible to ensure that solutions as defined are successfully transitioned to engineering, operations and customer service teams for ongoing execution and support. Additionally, you lead project delivery of solutions from the concept to logical design phases in support of large corporate and business initiatives.

 

As a successful Director, you regularly exhibit strong project/team leadership skills across a variety of audiences, subject areas and units. You possess a cross-functional skill set, including experience in communications, business analysis, product management, project management, product development, process engineering, and information systems. You consistently demonstrate strong leadership skills to manage a cross-functional team of diverse capabilities and disciplines.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day work activities of the team in the discharge of functional responsibilities.
  • Make assessments and business judgements to put the appropriate people, process and tools in place to deliver as well as coaching team members to optimize the efficiency of the team
  • Manage the work product and delivery of the team holding the team accountable for their commitments; removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work and mentoring and developing team members.
  • Promote empowerment of the team to ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the work and making a meaningful contribution, and encouraging a sustainable pace with high levels of delivery of quality work from the team.
  • Perform all administrative resource management functions including recruiting and employee performance management functions.
  • Primary interface with other project teams and other IT organizations to define new service offerings in the technical workforce enablement and collaboration domains.
  • Plan the next generation of technology and services within the scope of Enterprise Collaboration Technologies including selection, prototyping, piloting and transition to operations.
  • Coordinate with vendors to identify, select, and acquire vendor technologies and manage activities related to the sourcing of goods and services to ensure proper investments in technology solutions to maximize value.
  • Define, plan, and coordinate implementation with facilities and remote services organizations.
  • Oversee the definition, planning, coordination of end-User training and end-User adoption.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and assist in defining new policies or changes to existing policies related to new technology adoption.
  • Lead workforce productivity domain areas including system engineering, project management, requirements definition, implementation services.
  • Coordinate with other Shared Services departments to execute on delivery of new service offerings.
  • Work closely with other Information Technology groups and projects to align work with roadmaps and other architectural objectives and roadmaps as prepared by other groups and participate in architectural governance processes.
  • Prepare project cost and resource estimates, solution architectures, concept of operations, and test plans specific to delivery of service offerings to projects or other departments in Business Technologies.
  • Accountable through use of business and practical experience and knowledge of how technology can help solve business problems, to design, develop and operate technology solutions that meet business needs and incorporate organizational strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with both business units and IT development groups in solution development.
  • Formulate metrics and key performance indicators for delivery and operation of services and functional areas. Using ITIL service management principles leverage this info to establish an ongoing system of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, including service cost analysis modeling necessary to help ensure the proposed operational investments meet an industry-standard acceptable Return on Investment.
  • Define remote access and teleworking for a distributed workforce.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required (pably in a related field).
  • Additional related college courses or professional training and certification are strongly desired.
  • 5+ years’ experience in leadership and management of a technology management discipline or related field, including resource management in a program or department leadership role.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible work experience in various infrastructure solutions including cloud computing operations, operating systems, virtualization technologies, end-user desktop technologies and storage solutions.
  • Solid understanding of the practical application of ITIL service management processes, and demonstrated expertise in process definition.
  • Ability to work and manage project teams in a matrix capacity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in defining business applications and work processes as well as establishing a technical service portfolio.
  • Experience in managing operations processes in technical support or customer service.
    Strong operations management experience including the management and oversight of vendors
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-discipline, high-performance work teams and ability to make decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Experience in constructing actionable business and technical strategies, and managing the implementation of new or revised operational processes is required.
  • Progressively responsible work experience in various networking solutions including softphone, messaging (UM), e-communications, wireless connectivity, mobile device management, and secure network access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, skillful at negotiation, solid team worker, and experienced leader with demonstrated abilities in analysis, problem solving, and facilitation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams comprised of personnel throughout an organization that are tasked with the successful development, testing, distribution, and implementation of technical applications.
  • Ability to manage relationships with multiple levels of management.
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem solving ability.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to business units.
  • Detailed organizational skills to manage multiple projects, issues, and priorities effectively and simultaneously, with attention to detail.
