Position Summary

Provides leadership for biologics drug discovery projects in collaboration with academic investigators\. This role is responsible for lead identification of therapeutic antibodies and proteins, in order to efficiently advance complex research programs from early target validation through animal proof of concept studies\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Provides scientific expertise and leadership on biologics drug discovery research programs in collaboration with academic institutions, and supports collaborations with biotech, pharma, and CRO partners\.

+ Coordinates lead identification efforts for biologics drug discovery by overseeing teams and activities for antibody generation, assay development and screening\.

+ Leads novel biologics discovery projects at diverse stages ranging from target validation, lead identification, lead optimization and characterization through proof\-of\-concept studies in disease\-relevant models\.

+ Identifies project risks and contingency planning, prepares study/program related materials and performs other activities associated with research programs\.

+ Actively represents the Tri\-I TDI within the scientific community\.


+ PhD


PhD in Immunology, Pharmacology, Molecular or Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related field is preferred\.

At least 12 years of biologics drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry\.

An established professional track record of solving complex drug discovery problems, as evidenced by publications or patents\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Thorough understanding of the biologics drug discovery process from target validation through transition to preclinical development

+ In\-depth expertise with antibody generation platforms including hybridoma, single B cell technologies, and phage display

+ Proficiency in developing binding & functional assays and defining screening strategies to enable biologics lead identification

+ Extensive knowledge of in vitro and in vivo pharmacology models coupled with an appreciation for the critical issues ever\-present in drug discovery and development

+ Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills in addition to rigorous scientific thinking

+ Highly organized and able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

+ Experience with managing multiple teams of scientists

+ Ability to independently coordinate and monitor collaborations with academic investigators, industry partners, and CROs
