Description Position Summary
This newly established position will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Patient Derived Tumor Xenograft .PDTX. Core Laboratory. The responsibilities of this position include supervising technical staff, developing and conducting a broad range of drug screening and analysis procedures, maintaining equipment, developing standard operating and quality assurance procedures, ensuring regulatory and safety compliance, and supporting investigators in the design of experimental studies and data analysis.
Job Responsibilities
+ Coordinate and supervise daily operations of the PDTX unit, including a broad range of protocols, instruments and sample processing.

+ Act as driver for implementation of PDTX model development and drug screening platforms. Oversee implementation of existing and emerging technologies, including methods development and application optimization.

+ Supervise and direct the PDTX technical staff, currently n=3 with plans for expansion, and animal facility operators to maintain and operate the PDTX unit at appropriate biosafety level.

+ Develop standard operating protocols.

+ Maintain a detailed mouse census on a daily basis; review census daily with PDTX staff.

+ Oversee maintenance of equipment and infrastructure and act as primary liaison with vendors. Ensure emergency back.up systems are operational and serve as a key point of contact for infrastructure and equipment emergencies. Monitor and orders supplies.

+ Manage data generation, analysis and archiving. Coordinate specific analyses with other WCM laboratories or core facilities when appropriate.

+ Manage fee.for.service chargebacks.

+ Determine metrics for quality assessment; create reports on the technical status, achievements and challenges, and future plans.
Education
+ Master's Degree in related field
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Extensive experience with small animal models .for example, as a veterinary assistant. and/or in managing experimental and/or drug discovery programs with rodents .at least 5 years..
Previous experience with highly immuno.compromised mice .at least 3 years..
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Ability to troubleshoot experimental protocols and maintain meticulous records.

+ Attention to detail and multitasking abilities, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

+ Experience working in a CLIA environment.

+ Excellent computational and communication skills.
