Position Summary







Under general guidance, performs adult, pediatric or fetal echocardiography and assists in ensuring efficiency in the daily functioning of the echocardiography lab







Job Responsibilities







+ Responsible for maintaining a sterile environment\. Ensures standard infection control precautions are observed\.



+ Records data, calculations and measurements of echocardiograms according to its anomaly\.



+ Performs echocardiograms and Doppler studies and explains procedures to patients and/or guardians\. Utilizes portable equipment as necessary for performing echocardiograms on pediatric patients\.



+ Performs quality assurance related activities\. Maintains statistics, checks equipment, performs preventative maintenance and initiates calls for equipment service as necessary\.



+ Assists with training fellows, visiting physicians, medical students and staff in the performance and interpretation of echocardiogram and Doppler studies\.



+ Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents\. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately\. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery\. May assist with cost control\.



+ Attends workshops, seminars and/or conferences to keep abreast of standards and best practices within the field\. Disseminates information to colleagues and/or staff as appropriate\.



+ Assists in the scheduling of patents requiring an echocardiogram\.



+ Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times\.







Education







+ High School Diploma







Experience







Approximately 2 years of experience with imaging complex congenital anomalies







Knowledge, Skills and Abilities







+ Demonstrated knowledge of fetal echocardiography\.



+ Completion of AMA accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Program\.







Licenses and Certifications







+ Current, active and unrestricted New York State License in Radiographic Technology \(RT\)



+ Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer \(RDCS\) or registry eligible



+ ARRT Certification



+ Intravenous Contrast Administration Certification in New York State
