Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the Dean of Nursing position in the Division of Allied Health and Nursing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is a full-time, twelve-month, position and is open until filled.

REPORTS TO: This position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The Dean of Nursing must possess a Masters Degree in Nursing from a regionally-accredited university and must have a minimum of seven years of professional nursing experience in health service, social service or education programs. Experience must have been at a supervisor level.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid license to practice professional nursing in the State of Louisiana.

GENERAL FUNCTION: This position is responsible for advancing the long-range vision and strategies for the Allied Health and Nursing Department. This position also serves to provide vision, innovation and leadership to advance the program as well as create a positive learning environment for student engagement. This position will work with other deans, department heads, faculty and staff to enhance and improve learning strategies that support student retention and success.


Provide leadership and oversight for faculty, staff, and programs across the Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) campuses for Allied Health and Nursing Division.
Articulate a clear vision for the Division and collaborate and demonstrate leadership within the Division.
Promote a culture of high standards, accountability and collegiality.
Work with department chairs to improve and advance all programs and support educational innovation and instructional methodology.
Promote development of new programs and projects that enhance the missions of the College.
Promote faculty and staff awareness off industry trends.
Oversee a continuous quality approach to evaluation of program effectiveness.
Motivate faculty and staff to achieve goals; support professional development; promote awareness of job opportunities; acknowledge faculty and staff contributions.
Participate in hiring, promotion and human resource decisions and recommendations.
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Review performance evaluations prepared by department chairs and work with Human Resources on performance improvement issues.
Develops the Division budget and monitor spending within scope of approved budget practices
Works with Department Chairs to establish the needs and priorities for the Division.
Identify external resource opportunities and coordinate fund raising needs.
Maintains functioning advisory committees for the Division.
Approves teaching load.
Advises students as necessary. Provides final conflict resolution for student grievances within the Division.
Approves final graduation audits prior to submission to the Office of Enrollment Services.
Initiates curriculum transfer and articulation with regional college/universities.
Ensures compliance with the college Records Retention Policy.
Participates in programmatic and/or SACSCOC accreditation process.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs
