Position Summary

This role provides services for a mental health contract from the NYC Department for the Aging\. The contract is to offer Problem\-Solving Therapy to older adult victims of abuse as part of an innovative program \(PROTECT\) and in home psychotherapy to case management clients\. Incumbent should be able to work part\-time in the community\. In addition to direct services, this role participates in a weekly supervision and a weekly meeting\. For elder abuse and/or homebound clients, 3 sessions per day are expected\. All services are documented in the NYC Dept\. for the Aging STARS system and psychotherapy sessions are documented in the Weill Cornell EMR \(EPIC\) via computers\.

This is a part\-time position with services being delivered in Staten Island\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Provides comprehensive clinical assessment; short\-term individual and family counseling; and crisis intervention where indicated\. Provides longer\-term treatment when necessary in selected cases\.

+ Provides feedback to the individual and makes referrals to community based services\.

+ Provides clinical diagnostic evaluation using SCID interview\.

+ Attends and participates in community meetings as needed\.

+ Implements therapeutic interventions and develops treatment plans, goals and objectives based on initial and ongoing assessments\.

+ Develops and leads ongoing support groups and workshops for employees on special topics\.


+ Master's Degree


Experience with community activities or outreach\.

Prior experience working with an aging population is preferred\.

Ability to build supportive and respectful relationships with older adults\.

Possess an understanding of and practice cultural sensitivity through open dialogue and self\-exploration with diverse groups, while providing direct services\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English\.

+ Ability to work independently and collaborate with a variety of professionals\.

+ Strong verbal, written communications, and interpersonal skills\.

+ Advanced time management and organizational skills

Licenses and Certifications

+ Social work licensure \(LCSW\)
