Position Summary



Under the general direction of the Director for Finance and Business Services, the position is responsible for assisting in the analysis and review of financial reports, supports audits and conducts financial risk management activities to assess enterprise and contractual risk\. The incumbent will work closely with Finance and Business Services to establish and monitor adherence to policies and procedures to mitigate any potential risk\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Conducts compliance and quality control reviews of financial statements and reporting to ensure compliance with US GAAP rules\.

+ Acts as a first point of contact for auditors, assisting with audit procedure, collection of data and resolving queries in a timely manner\.

+ Fosters and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders\.

+ Conducts tax compliance activities, including end to end reporting requirements, regarding payments processed to vendors, students and employees through accounts payable\.

+ Assists in the evaluation of the design and operating effectiveness of financial reporting controls and the assessment of identified deficiencies\. Supports and monitors implementation of corrective actions\.

+ Identifies risk management criteria\. Ensures control documentation, reporting and monitoring is adequate and complete\. Assists in designing controls and determining key controls to be tested\.

+ Works with process owners to ensure controls are operating effectively and evidenced appropriately\.

+ Monitors and manages the insurance portfolio for the college, ensuring that policies provide adequate coverage and are renewed in a timely manner\.

+ Analyzes significant, and/or unique contract requirements, in conjunction with WCM NY and assesses contractual risk for commercial contracts\.

+ Performs other tasks and supports the Finance division as required\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree



Experience



BA/BS in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience\.



CPA is highly desirable\.



Five or more years professional level management and financial experience in the areas of audit, financial statements tax and financial risk management, with two years at a senior level in a computerized accounting environment with SAP or similar accounting/financial software\.



Prior working experience in an educational environment and knowledge of research accounting will be an advantage\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Previously demonstrated advanced level excellent communication and interpersonal skills\.

+ Prior experience of working in a cross\-cultural environment\.

+ Proven strategic planning skills\.

+ Excellent business relationship management skills\.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands



Work typically takes place in a normal office environment requiring: standing, walking, sitting, operating a PC and other office equipment\.



Travel between office locations may be required\.
