Position Summary



This therapist provides mental health services as part of a mental health contract from the NYC Department for the Aging\. The contract will provide older adult victims of abuse therapy as part of an innovative program \(PROTECT\) and in home psychotherapy to case management clients\.



The candidate should be able to work full time in the community \(Part\-time opportunities are available as well\)\.



Ideal candidates must be fluent in SpanishorCantonese and interested in delivering psychotherapy to older adults in community\-based or in home settings throughout various locations within New York City\.



Training in evidenced base therapies and supervision is provided, as well as required weekly virtual meetings\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments; short\-term individual and family counseling; and crisis intervention where indicated\. Provides longer\-term treatment when necessary in selected cases\.

+ Maintains communication with referring community staff\.

+ Provides feedback to client and makes referrals to community based services\.

+ Attends and participates in community meetings as needed\.

+ Implements therapeutic interventions and develops treatment plans, goals and objectives based on initial and ongoing assessments\.

+ Develops and leads ongoing support groups and workshops for employees on special topics\.

+ Documents services in an electronic medical record and related systems as applicable\.

+ If applicable, provides clinical diagnostic evaluation using SCID interview\.



Education



+ Master's Degree in related field



Experience



Experience with community activities or outreach\.



Minimum of one\-year experience providing psychotherapy\.



Ability to speak fluent Spanish or Cantonese\.



Prior experience working with an aging population is preferred\.



Ability to build supportive and respectful relationships with older adults\.



Possesses an understanding of and practices cultural sensitivity through open dialogue and self\- exploration with diverse groups, while providing direct services\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Ability to work independently and collaborate with a variety of professionals\.

+ Excellent listening skills and ability to empathize\.

+ Advanced time management and organizational skills\.

+ Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English\.

+ Strong verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills\.



Licenses and Certifications



+ NYS Licensure\.
