Position Summary

Assists in the execution of the strategy for all communications for the Office of Research including the website, and written and verbal messaging internal and external to Weill Cornell Medicine\. This role ensures that the Office of Research at Weill Cornell Medicine provides a consistent message that is in alignment with the strategic mission of the medical college and works closely with senior level administrators and faculty members within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives related to research\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Prepares presentations and takes minutes for meetings organized by the Office of Research including \(but not limited to\) strategic planning meetings, Special Committee on Research, department chair and center director meetings\.

+ Prepares annual report for Research at Weill Cornell Medicine and for Research Integrity\.

+ Works with ITS on website development, communications and other updates to reflect current information related to the Office of Research\.

+ Manages college\-wide communications \(email, social media\) related to research news, awards, etc\. Prepares monthly Office of Research newsletter for distribution to the WCM community\.

+ Prepares agendas, reports, and documents related to Office of Research\. Prepares talking points and drafts speeches for leadership in Office of Research for events\.

+ Manages internal and external communications from the Office of Research leadership\. Assists faculty in preparing presentations for non\-technical audiences\.

+ Assists in preparing outcome reports on projects and programs managed by the Office of Research\.

+ Assists with preparation of letters of support and nomination packages for faculty awards\. Develops faculty awards database\.

+ Provides related support to leadership in the Office of Research as needed\.

+ Work with ITS on enhancement to online faculty profile \(VIVO\) database\.

+ Creates dashboard to track metrics and goals\.


+ Bachelor's Degree in related field


Masters degree preferred\.

Approximately 3\-5 years experience in business communication and writing in health related \(ie\. academic medical centers, hospitals\) environment\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Advanced computer knowledge, with proficiency in word processing, presentation software \(PowerPoint\)\.

+ General knowledge about medical health topics\.

+ Ability to communicate with medical and/or research faculty to develop research presentations for non\-technical audiences\.

+ Superior organizational skills\.

+ Proven record of collaborating effectively with senior\-level faculty and administration\.
