Position Summary



The incumbent will work under the Associate Director for Clinical and Faculty Affairs to provide support for the faculty appointment cycle and will be expected to assist with other activities as required working under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Clinical and Faculty Affairs\.



Job Responsibilities



+ Coordinates faculty recruitment activities: managing web postings, liaising with agencies, processing invoices and cost allocation, preparing background materials, and supporting the academic hiring unit in other tasks as required\.

+ Responsible for the academic appointment, reappointment, appraisal, promotion and termination processes of faculty and non\-faculty academic staff, including preparing employment and appointment forms, reviewing CVs and timely submission of documentation\.

+ Responsible for the initial review of applications received from assigned affiliated physicians applying for junior faculty ranks\.

+ Provides feedback to the applicants and edits application dossiers to ensure that they comply with the WCMC faculty appointment and promotion requirements prior to submitting the applications to the Screening Committee for assessment\.

+ Prepares evaluation letters, as needed, for the Chair or Dean, which includes gathering and synthesizing information from several sources\.

+ Responsible for faculty data including keeping accurate, current data on faculty and clinical affairs; identifying data requirements and resources; providing analysis of faculty data; developing reports; and acting as a resource for other divisions\.

+ Participates in other information technology initiatives of the office\.

+ Serves as back up for other staff\.

+ Performs other reasonable duties as assigned\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree



Experience



At least three years of experience in higher education or an academic setting\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Demonstrated strong writing skills in the English language

+ Demonstrated excellent communication skills\.

+ Demonstrated creativity, critical analysis, judgement and decision\-making skills\.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team\.

+ Advanced computer skills with expert level knowledge of Excel and database software\.

+ Advanced time management and organizational skills\.

+ High level of attention to detail and accuracy\.

+ Ability to track, monitor, and adhere to deadlines\.

+ Ability to interpret appointment and promotion policies and criteria to faculty and candidates\.

+ Ability to develop relationships with key constituents at all levels\.

+ Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion\.

+ Demonstrated ability to adapt successfully to fast\-paced and changing work environment and needs\.

Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar was established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar



Foundation\. The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at university level, WCM\-Q offers an integrated program of pre\-medical and medical studies leading to the Cornell University M\.D\. degree\. Teaching is by Cornell and Weill Cornell faculty, including physicians at Hamad Medical Corporation \(HMC\) who hold Weill Cornell appointments\.



Enrollment has grown rapidly from 25 first year pre\-medical students in fall 2002 to over 200 students from more than 30 countries as we entered our sixth year of operation in September 2007\.
