This position is open until filled. South Orange County Community College District is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for a short-term, temporary, hourly, non-bargaining unit position, not to exceed 160 days per Fiscal Year. This advertisement is to create a pool of applications to be used when there is an available opening in the Saddleback College Fiscal Office as a Clerk, Short-Term. *The SOCCCD minimum wage increased to $11.50 eff. 12/15/16.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

Working in a busy office environment with a high volume of student services for registration. Processing student fee payments (both telephone and in-person), data entry, public relations, and other duties as assigned.

Ability to work with the public in a busy office environment, process cash, check, and credit card payments; basic computer data entry skills; ability to use adding machine and modern office equipment; ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to work with the public.

Education and Experience Guidelines:

Six months experience in retail cashiering and/or customer service is desired, but not required.

Conditions of Employment:

Employment is contingent upon verification of employment history, DOJ background verification as governed under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the SOCCCD Board of Trustees. It is the employee’s responsibility to pay costs associated with Pre-Employment Live Scan Fingerprinting. The fee is approximately $50. Please note that all NBU positions are paid once per month. The NBU pay period runs from the 15th of one month to the 14th of the next. They are paid the month after on the 10th. Upon successful completion of the Human Resources NBU pre-employment process, NBU employment will be on an “if and as needed” basis, as determined by the District. NBU employment is at-will, and either party may terminate this working relationship at any time. NBU employees shall not have reemployment rights or recourse to petition to be reinstated. NBU employees are limited to working in a single position in one department/site. NBU employees working as Classified substitutes for vacant positions may be able to serve up to 90 calendar days while the District recruits to fill the position. NBU positions do not offer benefits or pay for holidays or time not worked. Upon hiring, Payroll requires that you present your original Social Security Card for IRS purposes. This requirement is in no way connected to completion of the I-9 form for employment eligibility purposes.

Work Environment:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
