Job Title Certified Nurse Midwife

Description Position Summary
Responsible for full scope midwifery care with focus on pregnancy, birth and postpartum in an in.hospital birth center and traditional labor and delivery unit.
Job Responsibilities
+ Complete prenatal care including physical exams, PAP smears, fundal height monitoring, vital signs, prenatal testing, diagnosing complications of pregnancy, referrals and collaboration with other health care professionals

+ Management of labor, delivery and postpartum course for normal low risk patients

+ Collaboration with other members of the health care team when abnormalities arise during labor, delivery or postpartum

+ Routine postpartum care for initial 6 weeks after delivery including counseling on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, identifying postpartum depression, and providing birth control

+ Routine gynecological and well.women exams including pre.conception counseling, routine pap smears, STD testing, physical exams, routine bloodwork, referrals as needed

+ Breastfeeding support and referrals. Contraception counseling and administration of contraception.
Education
+ Master's Degree
Experience
MSN Midwifery
Board Certification .AMCB.
Active NY State License in Nursing and Midwifery
New York State DEA Registration
Experience with in.hospital birth center highly desired
Minimum two years of experience highly desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Ability to communicate effectively.
Licenses and Certifications
+ Infection Control Certificate
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
24 hour calls, office days and weekends required.
