Position Summary

Under supervision, assists with the monitoring of physician billing activity for compliance and quality assurance audit processes\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Attends workshops, seminars and/or conferences to keep abreast of standards and best practices within the field\. Disseminates information to colleagues and/or staff as appropriate\.

+ Maintains up\-to\-date knowledge of essential computer systems, software and/or policies and procedures related to function\(s\) of role\.

+ Assists with coding reviews of outpatient, inpatient and procedure documentation to ensure that the documentation supports the services billed and all documentation standards are met\.

+ Analyzes physician coding patterns and other documentation utilizing electronic databases\.

+ Assists with compliance quality assurance audits\. Summarizes results of audits and assists with the preparation of reports\.

+ Assists in orienting new employees/faculty to departmental billing and compliance policies and procedures and notifies new employees/faculty of upcoming compliance training workshop dates\.

+ Evaluates current compliance plan and makes recommendations for changes\.


+ High School Diploma

+ Bachelor's Degree in related field


Approximately 1 year of experience in medical records and/or physician billingApproximately 1\-2 years of experience as medical coder

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Demonstrated knowledge of professional billing, including physician billing, reimbursement, and carrier relations\.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of third party reimbursement\.

Licenses and Certifications

+ Certified Professional Coder Certificate \(CPC\)
