Job Details

Position Summary

Identifies and evaluates patients with impaired hearing and balance or with hearing disorders and provides appropriate habilitation/rehabilitation\.

Job Responsibilities

+ Administers hearing evaluations, tests, or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairment\.

+ Evaluates hearing test results and patients medical or background information to determine hearing impairment and treatment\.

+ Counsels and instructs patients in techniques to improve hearing impairment, including sign language\.

+ Plans and conducts prevention and treatment programs for patients' hearing problems\.

+ Records and maintains reports of hearing research or treatments\.

+ Refers patients to additional medical or educational services if needed\.

+ Conducts or directs research and reports findings on hearing topics to develop procedures, technology, or treatments\.

+ Advises educators or other medical staff on hearing topics\.

+ Participates in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new hearing disorder treatment methods or technology\.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned\.


+ Master's Degree


Masters Degree in Audiology or Doctor of Audiology \(Au\.D\.\)

Approximately 1 year of experience in Audiology or combination of experience and related education\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Ability to communicate well with their patients, despite potential hearing issues

+ Compassion and patience to make a patient feel comfortable

+ Critical\-thinking and problem\-solving skills

+ Detailed personality with excellent record keeping skills

Licenses and Certifications

+ Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology \(CCC\-A\) from the American Speech\-Language\-Hearing Association \(ASHA\)

+ NYS Audiology license
