Position Summary







Oversees pre\-award research administration to facilitate research activities within the department and ensure compliance with governmental and institutional policies and regulations\.







Job Responsibilities







+ Oversees pre\-award administration of all research activities\. Reviews and approves all grant proposals, IRB applications, contract documents and industrial agreements\. Analyzes proposals for operational feasibility and financial viability\.



+ Oversees the grant application process for federal and non\-federal grants and contracts\.



+ Works with Faculty to prepare multi\-element components of grant applications\.



+ Interfaces with institutional officials who formerly endorse grant applications from the department; ensuring accuracy, quality and timeliness of submissions for all applications\.



+ Interacts with Federal and Non\-Federal granting agencies as appropriate\.



+ Interacts with peer institutions in establishing sub\-contracts and affecting transfers for arriving and departing faculty\.



+ Prepares reports \(quarterly and annually\) on the activity and success rates of grant applications, and funding levels of the department\.



+ Leads internal grant awarding processes \(Pre\-K, Seed Grants\) for the department\.



+ Leads the effort to host the annual research retreat including arranging for the key\-note speaker, other speakers, abstract and poster selection process and overall coordination of the day\.



+ Seeks and communicates funding opportunities for faculty within the department



+ Responsible for other related activities as assigned







Education







+ Bachelor's Degree







Experience







Master's degree is preferred\.







Approximately 5 years of progressive experience in finance and research administration within an academic medical school environment or equivalent combination of education and experience\.







Knowledge, Skills and Abilities







+ Demonstrated leadership in development an managing position requirements including the ability to supervise and motivate staff and develop performance measures to maximize productivity and work quality\.



+ Effective communication skills\.



+ Excellent Interpersonal Skills\.



+ Knowledge of federal research regulations and familiarity with research compliance policies and accounting systems\.
