Position Summary



The Assistant Director, IPH, is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Institute in accordance with its objectives, and the mission of WCM\-Q in education, community and patient care related matters, and in promoting the well\-being of the population in the State of Qatar\. The AD will manage and ensure efficient and effective operations of IPH administrative aspects, educational activities, research projects and community related programmatic activities\.

Job Responsibilities



+ Develops and enhances division policies and procedures\.

+ Develops and fosters relationships with local and global institutions to further the mission, goals and objectives of the IPH\.

+ Oversees the planning, development and implementation of IPH programs\. Evaluates programs and makes recommendations for enhancements\.

+ Guides and supports the staff within the division as well as external stakeholders on latest developments within IPH\.

+ Leads the communication efforts of IPH including developing content and disseminating messages to stakeholders\.

+ Manages the submission of Continuous Professional Development \(CPD\) and Continuous Medical Education \(CME\) applications for IPH activities as required\.

+ Manages the coordination of IPH population health research projects\.

+ Leads and develops the team, providing guidance on work distribution and processes\. Conducts performance appraisals, mentoring, training and staff recruitment\.

+ Analyzes data and presents best practices and procedures that focus on enhanced efficiency, increased productivity and improved professionalism\.

+ Manages all general business aspects of IPH programs including the support of special projects, preparation of annual reports and the maintenance of Institutes office records\.

+ Participates in teaching and supporting IPH and medical school education programs as required\.

+ Supports the preparation of presentations, researching of literature, and maintenance of IPH educational and administrative resources\.

+ Supports the preparation of the annual budget and monitors the financial operations of the Institute\.



Education



+ Medical Degree \(MD or MBBS\)



Experience



+ Medical degree \(MBBS or MD\)\.

+ Advanced degree in public health \(MPH/M Sc/PhD\) desirable\.

+ Minimum of 5 years combined relevant experience as an administrator, public health researcher, medical practitioner in a clinical setting, medical school or health related organization\.

+ Knowledge of a second WHO EMRO region \(Arabic, Urdu etc\.\) language would be an advantage\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Ability to track record of publications in peer\-reviewed journals, and reports and articles of publishable quality\.

+ Excellent management skills, project management skills, proactive problem solver with superb planning, coordination, leadership and mentorship skills\.

+ Advanced organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills\.

+ Prior experience of working in a cross\-cultural environment\. Some global health and preferably local health experience \(in Qatar\)\.

+ Ability to multi\-task in a result\-oriented environment, and work independently\.

+ Advanced experience of working with Microsoft Office products including word processing, presentation software and data management software\.

+ Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English\.

Licenses and Certifications



Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar was established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar



Foundation\. The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at university level, WCM\-Q offers an integrated program of pre\-medical and medical studies leading to the Cornell University M\.D\. degree\. Teaching is by Cornell and Weill Cornell faculty, including physicians at Hamad Medical Corporation \(HMC\) who hold Weill Cornell appointments\.



Enrollment has grown rapidly from 25 first year pre\-medical students in fall 2002 to over 200 students from more than 30 countries as we entered our sixth year of operation in September 2007\.
