Position Summary



Responsible for the conduct and oversight of research projects supported by the Clinical Research Core, the incumbent works closely with the Director and Associate Director, operationalizing Clinical Research Core processes for multiple research studies involving multiple investigators\. The Assistant Director will oversee the conduct of core related research studies in collaboration with investigators at WCMQ and affiliated healthcare organisations\. Responsibilities include study management, development of a manual of procedures, research team training, research team oversight, IRB applications and continuous review, DSMB applications and review, maintenance of study training, conduct of research studies, and preparations for study audits\.

Job Responsibilities



+ Leads and develops the team, providing guidance on work distribution and processes\. Conducts performance appraisals, mentoring, training and staff recruitment\.

+ Oversees compliance to all research guidelines and standards of WCMC\-NY and WCMC\-Q\.

+ Prepares study plans and manual of procedures\. Establishes detailed protocols and develops training on the protocols\.

+ Oversees monitoring of quality of collected data, assessing compliance with IRB requirements for study documentation, logs, adverse events\.

+ Development of recruitment plans for Clinical trials, recruitment reporting and monitoring\.

+ Works with investigators to establish objectives, assists in short and long term goal setting, including collaborations with WMCQ faculty and investigators at partner healthcare organizations\.

+ Oversees IRB/DSMB/grant reporting\.

+ Oversees clinical data and ensures appropriate data procedures are implemented, including development and documentation of clinical research protocols and monitoring protocol outcomes and quality as studies progress\. Maintains study files and logs\.

+ Manages all ethics applications and approvals\. Assists researchers in the interpretation and implementation of human research subject protection policies and procedures\.

+ Participates in strategic planning in the assessment of potential research activities and external collaborations\.

+ Creates budgets, monitors all expenditure and oversees supplies and stocks related to specific studies to ensure the smooth running of various studies\.

+ Develops and documents methods to improve research group processes\. Thinks strategically about the team operations, continuously monitoring and evaluating the processes and making recommendations for improvements\.

+ Contributes to the delivery of clinical research training programs\.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned\.



Education



+ Bachelor's Degree



Experience



Bachelor degree \(B\.S\.\) in biology or related field is required\. Masters degree in health care management or a related field desirable\.



At least 7 years prior experience working in a research or similar clinical research facility with progressive experience in recruitment for clinical research and maintinaing data sets\.



Experience working in a cross\-cultural environment a plus\.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



+ Previously demonstrated leadership skills and experience\.

+ Strong research design skills; communication, and collaboration skills; and demonstrable ability to work effectively with those involved in clinical research\.

+ Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with all levels of faculty and staff\.

+ Advanced written and verbal fluency in the English language\.

+ Ability to prioritize tasks, to work independently, to maintain confidentiality\.

+ Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo and offer new and creative perspectives\.

+ Ability to work in a fast pace environment, and handle multiple deadlines and tasks with diplomacy under pressure\.

+ Basic computer experience required for data entry and troubleshooting\.

Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar was established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar
