Description Position Summary
Assists withteaching.learning activities within the anatomy lab suite. This role prepares cadaveric specimens and develops plastinated specimens and electronic multimedia teaching resources for the use of teaching anatomy to physician assistant students. This role also provides administrative support as needed.
Job Responsibilities
+ Coordinates donor body receipt with funeral directors and assists with placement of cadavers within the lab.

+ Embalms and prepares cadaveric specimens for demonstration purposes. Ensures the proper preservation of cadavers and safe refrigeration/storage of cadaveric material.

+ Assists with the preparation of plastinated specimens/prosections for use in the teaching of anatomy.

+ Assists with the organization, set.up and administration of specialized surgical training courses and lab dissections, including the coordination of outside vendors in setting up equipment and specimens.

+ Assists with the development and distribution of teaching resources, including the generation and maintenance of online resources.

+ Serves as a resource for students in performing prosections.

+ Serves as a resource for funeral directors, donors and/or their next of kin with regards to the operations of the body donation program.

+ Maintains the overall cleanliness and organization of the anatomy laboratory and cadaver preparation areas.

+ Ensures chemicals are stored in accordance with environmental safety guidelines.

+ Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control.

+ Assists with organization of the annual memorial service for the families of donors of the donor program.

+ Provides administrative support which may include labeling images, photographing specimens and data entry.

+ Performs other job related duties as required.
Education
+ High school diploma or GED
Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Extensive and detailed knowledge and experience in anatomical techniques required, including embalming, amputation, decapitation, calvaria removal and laminectomy.
Capability of working with cadavers.
Demonstrated knowledge of NY State regulations pertaining to the disposition of deceased bodies.

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner with all departmental faculty and staff, as well as other institutional representatives.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Gross anatomy laboratory space.
Position requires the ability to m ove and lift up to 50 pounds when required.
as scalpels and saws, and larger equipment such as band saws.
Position required attendance to the Associated Medical Schools .AMS. bi.annual committee meeting.
