Pay Range:140, Step 1 is $6,398.00 per month

Work ScheduleMonday through Friday; 9:00am-6:00pm


Classification Benefits:

Summary Description:

Under general direction from assigned management staff, provides and coordinates alternate media services to students with various disabilities, including software application support; provides training and instruction to students, faculty and staff in the use of alternate media services; and develops accessible distance education delivery systems in compliance with established regulations.


Knowledge of:

• Principles used in the design, development and presentation of disability training materials and alternate media programs.

• Computers and adapted software and hardware applications.

• Various disabilities and reasonable accommodations.

• Access strategies and requirements for various disabilities.

• Pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations including ADA/Section 508 guidelines.

• Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.


Ability to:

Analyze, troubleshoot and apply problem solving skills to alternate media technical problems.

• Operate adapted computer hardware and software.

• Provide guidelines to faculty and staff for proper implementation of alternate media programs.

• Analyze and determine effective alternate media and distance education accommodations.

• Setup and maintain Alternate Media Center office location and equipment.

• Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and

database applications.

• Present workshops at educational conferences on new and emerging technology.

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Education and Experience Guidelines:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.



Equivalent to two years of college level course work in assistive technology, computer science or a related field.



Four years of increasingly responsible experience in computer use including two years of experience that demonstrates an understanding of utilizing assistive technology hardware and software developing applications for students with disabilities.
