Position Summary

Under supervision, independently manages the appointments and promotion process for all of academic and faculty appointments within the department

Job Responsibilities

+ Responsible for the processing of all faculty and non\-faculty academic appointments, reappointments, promotions and/or terminations within the Medical College and NYPH\.

+ Maintains academic staff lists for the Office of Faculty Affairs and hospital staff lists for the Medical Staff Office\. Develops and maintains a faculty database for attending physicians within the Department\.

+ Coordinates and prepares visa/immigration paperwork\. Serves as primary liaison to HR's Immigration Office and/or immigration attorneys\. Stays abreast of visitor \(B\), training \(J\-1\) and work \(H1B or O\) visas or permanent residency policies and laws\.

+ Manages all facets of the residency orientation process, including assisting residents in obtaining housing, if needed\.

+ Coordinates the completion and submission of semi\-annual Ongoing Professional Peer Evaluations for medical staff appointments and Focused Professional Peer Faculty evaluations for new medical staff appointments and existing physicians as necessary\.

+ Generates appointment, reappointment, credentialing and termination paperwork for WCM\. Prepares letters of agreement, letters for promotion and/or reappointment and paperwork for the credentialing of departmental providers\.

+ Coordinates and tracks compliance with mandatory Medical College and Hopsital requirements on Annual Health Assessments, Annual Hospital Training, annual Organizational Readiness, faculty development reviews and other regulatory requirements\.

+ Maintains hard copy and/or electronic files and databases\. Ensures the security, accuracy and integrity of records\.

+ Generates reports for analysis\.

+ Interprets faculty appointment policies and advises Chairman and faculty as to appointment policies and implementation strategies\.

+ Manages all NYPH Medical Staff appointments and biannual reappointments for affiliate physicians and voluntary physicians across all sub\-specialties\. Maintains bi\-campus delineation of privileges\.

+ Assists in preparing recommendations for the Committee of Review \(COR\)\. Coordinates the flow of documents and maintains related records\.

+ Coordinates the administrative functions of the departments fellowship and/or residency program\(s\), including the recruitment of applicants, orientation, credentialing, documentation and evaluation\.


+ High School Diploma


Bachelor's degree is preferred\.

Approximately 2 years of related experience in an academic medical center\.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail\.

+ Excellent communication skills \(both verbal and written\)\.
